"Linguistic Signs of Discrediting the Russian Army." A Russian language and literature teacher provided an expert opinion on a village council deputy's post regarding the use of the letter "V" by Russian military personnel.
The Novoselovsky District Court of Krasnoyarsk Krai has published the administrative case report for Legostaevsky Village Council deputy Arkady Maksimov on its website. The man was previously fined For 30 rubles. On one social media site, Maksimov wrote that "the Nazis also used the letter V."

According to the transcript, a Russian language and literature teacher served as the linguist in court. It was she who found the deputy's words to be discrediting to the Russian army.
"She conducted a linguistic study and found that the comment, 'The main hint here is that our idiots adopted the Nazi V-shaped symbol on their sleeves for their special operation in Ukraine' <…> contains linguistic signs of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces during their special military operation in Ukraine, by comparing the "V" symbol to the symbol of Nazi Germany (German symbols). Given the public nature of the posting of these materials, the comments are aimed at fostering negative images of the Russian Armed Forces and its political leadership among other social media users," the report states.
Arkady Maksimov himself stated in court that he "considers it abnormal to use Nazi symbols in the ranks of military personnel in the SVO," since he believes that the letter V refers to the symbols of Nazi Germany.
