"We don't have allergists or immunologists": Why residents of Yugra aren't thrilled about the prospect of a sexologist's office opening for them
Residents of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug believe the regional Ministry of Health needs to address more serious healthcare issues than opening sexologist offices to treat homosexuality.

People began to express their opinions after the news that in 2024, the Surgut Psychiatric Hospital plans to open a sexologist's office where people will be treated for homosexuality, including forcibly.
"You'd better pay attention to the fact that we don't have specialists like allergists and pediatric immunologists in our city. We need to go to Surgut. Why don't we have these specialists, while Surgut does?" "First, they should learn how to successfully treat cancer. And cancer prevention, strengthening the immune system, and not this nonsense," write Residents of Nefteyugansk and Nizhnevartovsk on social networks.
It was also noted in the debate that for almost 30 years prior to this, any trans-transition operations were permitted in Russia.
"While tolerance wasn't even a topic of discussion in the EU or the US, the band Tatu was performing freely in our stadiums, and Moiseyev was being awarded the title of People's Artist. So what? I think for the past 30 years, everyone cared equally about the LGBT and trans issues, until Putin started whining about it," commenters say.
