A pregnant servicewoman was found guilty of evading conscription.
The Vladikavkaz Military Garrison Court sentenced Corporal Madina Kabaloeva. сообщает edition "Kommersant".

Kabaloeva has been charged with failure to report for military service without good reason during mobilization or armed conflict.
The corporal contacted her unit's medical company before the criminal case was opened. There, she was recommended to be temporarily exempted from military service due to pregnancy. Furthermore, she already had a child, born in 2018. However, Kabaloeva's failure to report to command still served as grounds for criminal prosecution.
In court, she acknowledged her absence but stated that she thought the medical certificate should have been handed over to her superiors. However, the military prosecutor rejected the defense's arguments. He noted that Kabaloeva had not resigned from military service due to pregnancy and continued to receive pay and benefits.
Ultimately, the servicewoman was sentenced to six years in a general regime penal colony. The sentence will not take effect until her child reaches adulthood, which is 2032.
The verdict will be appealed in the Southern District Military Court.
