"The Ministry of Culture is definitely wrong": a model from Krasnoyarsk was summoned to the police after her solo picket in support of the film "Barbie."
The summons has arrived Galinе Magergut more than a month after the picket, and also after the film was finally shown in the city’s cinemas.
As the model herself told a NeMoskva journalist, she is accused of failing to comply with the rules of conduct when a high alert regime is introduced in an area where there is a threat of an emergency (Part 1 of Article 20.6.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).
"On September 4th, I went to a picket to support 'Barbie.' Because it's a wonderful, pink film. Many Krasnoyarsk residents, just like me, were looking forward to its release, so they could watch it not on a pirated laptop at home, but beautifully on a big screen, soaking up the colors." — Galina recalls. — "I didn't try to persuade anyone to do anything—I stood there for a bit, filmed a video for my social media account, and left. I wasn't reprimanded, no one approached me, or kicked me out. Why did this cause such a stir? We'll look into this further with a lawyer on Friday."
According to lawyer Galina Magergut, under the article ascribed to her, she could face a reprimand, a fine of 1 to 30 rubles, or administrative arrest.
Galina clarifies that she watched the film after its premiere and was convinced that the Ministry of Culture was definitely wrong (as the poster she held at the picket said).
"I didn't notice any violations of traditional values in 'Barbie.' For example, the film 'Kakha' is far more unacceptable content to be shown in cinemas." — Magergut believes. "Yes, the Ministry of Culture was wrong, but I'm glad that the film 'Barbie' was released on the big screen, that people were able to see it, and there are many enthusiastic and positive reviews."
