"Every life must be fought for." Ryazan women rescued 16 horses from Penza slaughterhouses.

A group of Ryazan residents raised funds, traveled to the Penza region, and purchased 16 horses from slaughterhouses. They were given a home at the Solnyshko Equestrian Center. Ekaterina Tsareva, and some of the horses have already found new homes. Tsareva told NeMoskva about this.
"Many people believe that only old or sick animals are sold for meat, but, unfortunately, this is not true. The blood business is thriving in the Penza region... Countless butchers operate there, buying horses from everywhere. There you can find herds of wild foals raised specifically for meat, herds of mares from collapsed large farms bought wholesale, horses from private owners seized for debt, purebred stallions, and even pregnant mares." — Tsareva wrote today in the group of her equestrian center.
Ryazan women from the group Women's Sanga raised funds to buy the horses. The girls Catherine и Julia We spent a few days in the Penza region, where we selected young and healthy animals. They were sent in horse trailers to the village of Alekanovo.

"First we received eight horses, then the rest. Some have already gone to new owners, and we're preparing several for shipment. We're keeping three. Well, not really three—we accepted two, but one mare foaled right away. One of the rescued horses was definitely privately owned—she's tame, another was clearly a racehorse... It's unclear why they were sent to be slaughtered. Perhaps to pay debts. But my fellow steers and I believe this: every life must be fought for! Especially if they're young, healthy horses that can still do a lot of good." — Tsareva shared with NeMoskva.
