"Defend the freedom to make snow phalluses": the fight against "member-makers" continues in Yekaterinburg
All week long, Yekaterinburg residents across the city have been sculpting male genitalia out of snow. On Monday, after the snowfall, UrFU students unwittingly started the flash mob, and the city's residents joined in.
So much so that the "chlenoviki" (as the sculptures are nicknamed on social media) have not escaped the attention of local authorities. The mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Orlov He called the flash mob an "outrage" and promised that municipal services would be responsible for destroying the figures.
"Law enforcement probably needs to get to work. If they're insulting someone, it's probably an administrative offense. They should bring the police in and tear it down. It's a provocation, and we need to deal with these people." — the city's vice-mayor also expressed his opinion Alexey BubnovThe official is responsible for the improvement and cleaning of streets.
The flash mob also didn't please some local residents—a user with the nickname "Fair Man" launched a petition to that effect.
"Yekaterinburg is a modern and creative city. But why do people allow themselves to defame the city's name and disfigure it with their pseudo-creativity?" writes "The Just Man." — The student flash mob building snow genitals has gone beyond reasonable limits. We won't let this city become a ***.
However, there was also a counter-campaign: other activists launched a petition titled "Defend the Right of Yekaterinburg Residents to Create Snow Phalluses." At the time of publication, the vote was 16-11 in favor of those opposed.
"Yekaterinburg is a free, modern, and creative city. But for some reason, there are people who are unhappy with this and try to hinder the consolidation of citizens around shared interests. Let's defend the freedom to make snow-goo-goo." — those who are in favor mirrored.
How will this standoff end? Stay tuned!
