He started painting at the age of 10, when he first saw paintings at a fair.
From the age of 17, he worked as a draftsman at the Kursk Railway Administration. At 25, he left his wife and two children and went to Moscow to pursue an academic education.
My first attempt to get into art school ended in failure. A year later, I tried again – but wasn't accepted. A year later, another failure.
Having settled in Moscow, he became fascinated with the new technique of painting, crafted stage sets, and began to develop his own style. Sometimes, he didn't even have enough money for canvas; he had to resort to using furniture.
Founded a new direction in art - SuprematismHe proclaimed a transition to a "new non-objective art" and emphasized the dominance of color over other aspects of painting. According to Malevich, the artist should not copy nature, but create his own artistic worlds.
There is a big difference between the art of creation and the art of repetition.
His most famous work is Black Square — he wrote in 1915. The idea arose while working on the sets for a play, where a black square appeared in place of a sunburst. It all finally took shape when he saw a little schoolboy with a huge black backpack on a snowy street.

He hung his "Black Square" instead of an icon. But after the Bolshevik victory, he himself became an icon: he headed institutes, served on the commission for the protection of the Kremlin's valuables, taught art to young people, and traveled abroad to exhibit.
Every era requires new art.
He lost his positions because he wasn't a party member. He was twice imprisoned by the NKVD on suspicion of espionage.
He died on May 15, 1935 in Leningrad, from cancer.
