"No time for fat." Kostroma residents demanded the cancellation of a landfill project in response to the governor's post on reforestation.

"Sergey Sitnikov set goals for preserving and enhancing biodiversity in the region's forests," — appeared afterт on the governor's VKontakte page. "The landfill will ruin everything around it! Heal with one hand, cripple with the other!" — the Kostroma residents responded to his initiative.

"A few years ago, I set the goal of ensuring that the volume of reforestation was no less than the volume of trees felled and blown down. This goal has been achieved. Now it's up to us to preserve biodiversity and contribute to future generations." — the governor was quoted on his page.

Subscribers noted that reforestation is great, but we need to stop destroying it, including by building landfills.

"The forests in the Sandogorskoye settlement are 'on the edge of their lives,' because they're planning to build a self-igniting landfill on the site of a former military unit, surrounded on all sides by peat bog forests!" "Don't touch our pristine [village] Meza, our most beautiful forest! This year, lynx tracks were spotted 3 km from the planned landfill. Nature will restore itself." — the Kostroma residents told the governor.

An activist of the initiative group against the landfill Zhanna Dobrynina She recalled that three expert assessments—construction, state environmental, and independent—had given negative conclusions, but the landfill construction issue was still pending.

Administration of the Kostroma District "reassured": another one will be held, this time at the federal level.

Kostroma residents for almost a year they are fightingXia against the landfill in Sandogorsk rural settlement, but the governor still hasn't heard them.
