"For the tram and against Evraev!" Yaroslavl residents protested the complete closure of tram service for a year.

The other day the Yaroslavl governor Mikhail Evraev аnonsense The tram tracks were closed for a year for reconstruction. Residents didn't believe the promise of a repair timeline. Furthermore, they believed the city would never see trams again.

The authorities had previously promised to launch reversible service during the repairs, so that trams could continue to transport city residents. On April 10, the governor announced that reversible service was impossible: the overpasses also needed repairs. He promised to replace the trams with additional buses.

Tram drivers have described on social networks their suspicions:

“They’ll close it for two years, and it’s far from certain that they’ll reopen – like in other cities… Considering that the director announced at a meeting on the 12th that he could employ a maximum of 60 people... The entire staff is against it, they are writing for layoffs!

Residents expressed solidarity with the employees: "The tram solves the problem: you can get to most places in the city without traffic jams. Closing it leads to a traffic collapse!", "We can't live without it!", "For the tram, against Evraev!"

Next year, the Yaroslavl tram would have celebrated its 125th anniversary. Tram service will be completely shut down on August 1st.
