Pensioners in several Sverdlovsk villages are forced to dismantle dilapidated houses for heating.

Residents in the villages under Krasnouralsk freeze due to the lack of gas and fuel for the boiler room.

"They tear down old houses and dismantle them, and sometimes they bring firewood. But they bring waste, slabs of wood, which are of little use." — say local residents.

Gas hasn't been delivered to the villages for half a century. In response to all requests for gasification, authorities and gas companies have told local residents to be patient, even though the gas pipes run just 200 meters from the village boundaries. During the last visit, district officials unexpectedly announced that the villages had already been connected to the gas grid. Some pensioners are unable to afford good firewood due to a lack of funds.

Activists intend to contact the prosecutor's office and demand that gas be supplied to the villages.
