Residents of an Irkutsk village saved more than 600 hectares of forest from deforestation.

Residents of the village Keys Bulak, which is located 150 km from Bratsk, scored alarm on June 16: on this day, logging equipment and trailers for workers were brought to the edge of the relic forest.
As the People of Baikal project found out, an individual entrepreneur Sergei Bogatyrev reached an agreement with the administration Bratsky Area About the logging of 630 hectares: he leased them as agricultural land. This immediately raised questions among local residents: the forest grows on cliffs, three kilometers from the Bratsk Reservoir, making it impossible to plow or sow.
Almost every one of the 800 people living in the village signed complaints to the prosecutor's office and the Investigative Committee. Immediately after information about the logging appeared in the media, police officers arrived in Klyuchi-Bulak and stopped the felling of trees.
In addition, today the forest examined A special commission: officials concluded that the trees were over 100 years old and no fields could be established in their place. District authorities have already promised to rezone the land and terminate the lease agreement with the entrepreneur. Workers have left the area, and the equipment has been removed.
Protests against tree felling are taking place in many regions of the country. NotMoscow I have already talked about how residents of Yekaterinburg, Kaluga, Chelyabinsk and Karelia do this.
Yesterday the governor Ulyanovsk area stood up for an activist from whom the mayor's office tried to collect 237 thousand rubles for a protest against the destruction of trees. And in the neighboring Penza The City Duma's Ethics Committee issued a reprimand to the deputy Victor Homtz, who took part in a public gathering of residents against the cutting down of the "Family" park.
