"They're shoving them everywhere they can." In Ryazan, they want to unite hearing-impaired children and a group of autistic children.

Ryazan Boarding School No. 18 for the Hearing Impaired may welcome a group of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This was announced on its VK page. said Olga, mother of hearing-impaired children Maria KolosovskayaShe referred to an announcement from the regional Ministry of Education.

"Two completely different groups of people who absolutely cannot be together will be united. Yes, they say this is temporary, but even if it's only for a year, what will our children do?" — she wondered.

According to her, hearing-impaired and deaf children are vocal and active, while children with ASD have their own world, their own adaptation and socialization. The ministry emphasized that everything is done for the children's comfort.

During the discussions, Ryazan residents inquired about whether the teaching staff for the new students had been recruited and what facilities would be used. No one answered their questions.

NeMoscow contacted the mother of a child with ASD who would have been eligible for placement at Boarding School No. 18. She explained that it's difficult to place autistic children in schools; they're "shoved everywhere they can."

"In our building alone, there are two autistic children; there are so many of them now. It's high time we stopped talking about "placing" our children in other educational institutions and started building huge boarding schools. So that neither our children nor their parents feel disadvantaged, so that we can work and live fully. There's no room at the Vera boarding school for children with special needs at Sheremetyevo Airport. And in this situation with Boarding School No. 18, it's as if children with ASD are oppressing other children." — Irina expressed her point of view.

According to statistics, in Russia more 37,000 children with ASD and more 1,000,000 children with hearing impairments. However, there are not enough educational institutions for both groups.
