"They're usually lying around somewhere and getting in the way." How a fence made from old skis united residents of a village near St. Petersburg

The strange fence is located in the village Komarovo, in front of the house Alexander Strelets. is he рассказал Bumaga journalists said it all started 10 years ago, when a shed with old skis fell apart:

"I absolutely didn't want to throw them away or burn them. So I came up with the idea of winding them onto a fence."

He says most of the skis were brought to him by village residents. A friend is helping him assemble the fence: together, they work out the composition, matching the "raw materials" by color, pattern, and design.

“They usually end up lying around somewhere and getting in the way,” Alexander says about old skis. And then they get thrown away or burned. They're so beautiful, it's unfair!"

He calls his fence "a project to unite the lives of the village residents." And he continues to work on it—even after it has been broken down several times by drunks.

"We want people to recognize their skis, reminisce about the past, or notice the skis of their moms, dads, friends.", - explains Sagittarius.

He still needs a few more pairs to complete the fence.
