"They raised our salaries, but our wages ended up being lower": Ambulance drivers in Irkutsk explain the reason for mass layoffs
Salary problems began after ambulance drivers signed an additional agreement to increase salaries.
“They raised our salaries, but cut all other allowances and payments,” рассказал in his video message the driver Sergey Elovko. “The salary ended up being lower.”
According to him, he used to earn on average 330 rubles per hour work (56 thousand rubles for 170 hours of driving in a month). However, now, after the salary increase, the cost of his work has noticeably decreased - on average to 252 rubles per hour (the last time he received 64 thousand rubles in 254 hours).
Yelovko clarified that the drivers complained to the labor inspectorate, but received a formal reply.
“People started quitting their jobs after their first paycheck,” says Sergei Elovko. — Because it’s impossible to survive on such a salary now.”
He also added that pressure has begun to be placed on drivers by ambulance management.
He predicts that as early as November 20th, Irkutsk's ambulance service could collapse, as half of its drivers will quit, while the other half will refuse to work overtime.
“All the ambulances will stop because people will work their hours [150 hours a month], and overtime is paid a pittance,” he explained.
