"I knew the saying about free cheese." A mother of many children from Stavropol Krai lost part of her income after receiving the "Maternal Glory" medal.

Nina Ivanova from small Arkhangelsky village Budyonnovsky District is raising six children. The family's main income is child benefits, which amount to about 13 thousand rubles for each of their two youngest sons, and disability benefits for another child. A charitable foundation provides them with clothing, food, and household appliances.
Last year, Ivanova received a regional award - the "Maternal Glory" medal, 3rd degree, and the accompanying 100 thousand rubles A one-time payment. However, the woman was forced to regret the award and the maternity bonus. This year, the Ivanovs' child benefits were halved because the 100 rubles were counted as family income.
The mother of many children feels cheated and disappointed, since “they lost much more than they gained.”
"I knew the saying about free lunch, but I was so sure things would be different in the Year of the Family. The 100 rubles was a one-time payment, while the benefits were paid monthly and were a significant help. So why do we need awards that actually make families' lives worse?"
— asks a Stavropol resident.
To the Ministry of Social Protection of the region assurethat the family's rights are not violated, and according to the law, only federal awards are not included in the family's income.
The other day, the governor of Stavropol Vladimir Vladimirov presented "Maternal Glory" medals to 55 mothers of large families. At the awards ceremony, it was noted that the region "is implementing large-scale programs to support large families and strengthen family values."
