Crocodiles and monkeys are freezing in the Moscow region.

Shikhovo Zoo Farm in the Moscow region Dmitrov He has been without electricity for about a week, having been without it since the power grid was damaged by snowfall.

"We've been without power for six days now, and so have the nearby villages and towns. We were understanding about the situation, enduring it for a few days, surviving with our generators and staff on night shifts, but now it's reached its peak!" Wrote in the zoo farm's Telegram channel, apologizing to subscribers for partial visitor refusals.

According to the organizers, emergency services are brushing off their calls, stating that "the request has been accepted." However, the power is still out. Meanwhile, the numerous exotic animals—the 60 of which are dependent on light and warmth—could be harmed.

"We've only brought exotic animals to our heated quarters. These are mostly residents of the tropical aquarium and the crocodile farm. The rest are heated with generators." said Olga, director of the Shikhovo Zoo Farm Ekaterina Baryshnikova.

The generators consume a huge amount of fuel, and management fears the equipment won't be able to handle continuous operation. Employees have appealed to subscribers to write to friends and officials about the problem to "get through" to the authorities. They are asking for a solution, at least locally, on the farm's premises.

Last week, due to heavy snowfall 348 settlements in outskirts of Moscow were de-energized.
