A criminal case against activist Tatyana Lukyanova has been dropped in Khabarovsk.
The Investigative Committee found no criminal offense in the words of a regular participant in protests in support of former Governor Sergei Furgal, and experts found no "incitement to hatred" in them. During the investigation, she was placed under travel restrictions.
"Initially, the criminal case included an article on insulting government officials. But it was immediately dropped. Then a case of inciting hatred emerged. Currently, she faces neither administrative nor criminal prosecution," the activist's lawyer, Vitaly Tykhta, told NeMoskva.
Tatyana Lukyanova was persecuted for over a year. Searches were conducted at her home and those of several other activists in April 2024, after the defunct "I, We, Sergey Furgal" movement was designated "extremist." It was expected that a criminal case would be opened against her under this statute.
According to Lukyanova's lawyer, the reason for the prosecution was a rally in support of Furgal at the Rus Cultural Center on October 10, 2023. During this picket in support of political prisoners, the activist spoke about the violent dispersal of the October 10, 2020, rally in Lenin Square. clarifies OVD-Info.
"Shame on the courts, shame on those who stood guard at that administration building. Fourteen police officers knew it was swarming with riot police. Is it really possible to torture peaceful, unarmed citizens like this?" Lukyanova said.
