A note to a loved one was discovered in the basement of an old house. She never received the message.

A message to the future was found in an old 19th-century mansion at 25 Maxim Gorky Street. The items—a note, money, and a woolen blanket—were wrapped in thick paper and hidden in a basement alcove.
"Darling, you weren't here yesterday, and I don't know when you'll be leaving. I took the key from Granny and hid a gift for you. While we're apart, let it keep you warm. I left her a month's rent for your room. The rest is yours; I don't need it anymore. See you soon. Victory will be ours!" written in the note.
The three-chervonets banknote and pile of coins attached to the message were pre-war. One of them, the most recent, was minted in 1940.
“There are more questions in history than answers, but one thing is clear: the tragic story unfolded in the cold autumn or winter of 1941: the young man was clearly convinced that his lady love would find a treasure when she went down to the basement for coal,” the researcher suggested.
Kravchenko tried to find the author of the note and the recipient, but to no avail. He asked readers to carefully examine the photo of the young man—perhaps anyone would recognize their great-great-grandfather.
