An oil slick has appeared in the river near Lake Meshcherskoye, two kilometers from the former Varya oil refinery, where an oil storage facility was built 150 years ago. According to a public environmental inspector for the regional Ministry of Ecology, Vyacheslav Babushkin, which is precisely what caused the reservoir's pollution. Rainwater "squeezed out" the oil products, which flowed through the water lens into the Volga.
"The consequences are simple: any petroleum product prevents oxygen from penetrating the water, which will lead to the extinction of plant and animal life. Ducks will soil their feathers and won't be able to fly or swim."- рассказал about the consequences of ecology.
