Descriptions of suicides, drugs, and… math problems: The Ministry of Education has proposed blocking websites created to help schoolchildren.
Websites with answers to exercises from school textbooks, as well as analyses of last year's assignments from final exams and the All-Russian School Olympiad, will be targeted. пишет "Ъ".
The Ministry of Education has drafted the amendments. The agency wants to allow auxiliary websites to be added to the register of information prohibited from dissemination. This effectively equates solutions to school assignments with information on suicide methods, drug recipes, and "LGBT propaganda."
"To protect the educational process from the unfair use of ready-made solutions, to increase students' motivation to independently master programs, and to strengthen the principles of academic integrity," the Ministry of Education explains the need for its proposal.
Experts interviewed by Kommersant fear that the ban will target blogs and websites of teachers who analyze difficult exam and Olympiad assignments for schoolchildren. However, the draft law's language even affects students discussing assignments on social media.
"Under current conditions, it's impossible to ensure a complete information blockade," says Anton Chubukov, head of the Independent Education Laboratory project and Unified State Exam researcher. "Online schools will have the greatest opportunity to build their own closed database of exam questions and answers. Ultimately, the winners are the students who can afford such a course. Everyone else loses."
