The issuance of files of repressed persons has resumed in the Sverdlovsk region.

In the fall, Novoselov linked the refusal to hand over files to an order from the Federal Archives Service that allows for restrictions on access to "sensitive information."

At the time, the authorities stated that they were protecting the archives from “use in the interests of unfriendly states” because the information contained in nearly 4,5 million archival files “could be distorted or used by foreign agents to the detriment of Russia.”
