RuStore launches VPN without access to Telegram and YouTube

Russian mobile app catalog RuStore is planning to launch its own VPN service, found out "Layout." The developers indicate that their VPN will have two plans: a free plan with access to Russian websites from abroad, and a paid plan for access to educational platforms and neural networks.

It's specifically stated that Telegram, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, and other services already blocked in Russia will not work with this extension. However, the developers consider the extension's advantage to be "user confidence that it won't create legal problems for them."

The documents related to this service also include a section asking potential customers to answer questions about how it works. For example, they might ask phrases like "RuStore's VPN is more reliable than other similar services" and "This VPN service is relevant to me personally." They are also asked to specify whether they are willing to spend a certain amount on a subscription: 999 rubles per month or 8 rubles per year.

At the end of March, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shaadaev saidBy May 1, mobile operators must introduce a fee for using more than 15 GB of international data per month, and by mid-April, Russian services must stop working when VPNs are enabled. He also didn't rule out the possibility of introducing administrative penalties for VPN use in the future.
