Summer camp – among a reindeer herd. An educational holiday is organized for Even children.
The Evens' tribal nomadic community "Hendel" collects children for the summer holidays. They will live in a community, in a reindeer herding camp in the Kobyaisky ulus.
"This year marks the fifth year we've been holding a summer health camp with the reindeer herding brigade. For now, we've only held it for locals, so our children don't forget the traditions and customs of their ancestors and preserve their culture," the community told NeMoskva.
There aren't many children, about ten per "shift." The community calls the camp "Aymuldan," which means "peace" in Even.
The children will arrive in August this year. At the camp, they oversee all the reindeer herders' work, from vaccinations to castration. The children learn to lasso, milk, and ride the animals, and they also go on hikes, play, and, judging by the videos, have a wonderful time. As one of the parents of the camp participants told NeMoskva, all of them spent their summers with the herd as children, and those were "the best times."
