The host of "Soloviev Live" proposed opening a criminal case against a member of parliament who advocates for the criminalization of domestic violence.

Host of a propaganda channel "Soloviev Live" by Sergey Karnaukhov collapsed Criticizing Ksenia Goryacheva, a member of parliament from the New People party, he stated that the topic of domestic violence "should not be raised now," and that protecting women's rights is a "worthless issue."

"We see deputies like these who say we need to introduce domestic violence and open criminal cases. Criminal cases need to be opened against you. Because this sensitive topic definitely shouldn't be raised right now." — Karnaukhov said on air.

He said women should "kiss the feet of the soldiers" because, in his words, they defended the homeland. He also called for attention to other issues, which, in Karnaukhov's opinion, are more pressing: protecting the rights of SVO fighters, protecting the elderly from fraud, and protecting the widows of SVEO officers.

Ksenia Goryacheva reacted to Karnaukhov's speech:

"It's convenient to hide behind the SVO and the fighters, but I know that many guys in the SVO signed the Manifesto because they proudly sent me screenshots of their signatures. Real men can't be against respect for women and the protection of their rights. They don't feel offended by the fact that the manifesto is addressed to their wives, sisters, mothers, and daughters. Because it's the right thing to do."

She previously launched a manifesto against the humiliation and violence against women. Now it have signed about 70 thousand people, the goal is to collect 1 million signatures.

Previously in the Ministry of Internal Affairs recognized, that the adoption of the domestic violence law is being "unacceptably delayed." For example, in 2024, half of those accused of battery received only a formal sentence of correctional labor. Only 14% of abusers ended up in prison. Only 12% of victims of domestic violence seek help from the police, but often do not receive adequate assistance.
