A Voice from a Window Outside Moscow: The band Stoptime presented their debut original album.

🎧 "To nowhere from nowhere" — these are 12 tracks in which the lyrical heroine tries to maintain her inner core, sort out her feelings and still answer the question of whether she is a good person.

“How can I explain to you what melancholy is,

What if we don't speak the same language?

You send golden troops to the south,

Hiding the back of his head in the blood-stained sand.

I'm flying away, but know this: I will definitely return.
In the summer, from wintering grounds, looking down on you.

I check the rhythmic crying pulse,

How can I explain to you what melancholy is?

Diana Loginova (aka Naoko) wrote some of the songs for this album in pretrial detention cells while she was being subjected to carousel arrests, a couple before her arrests, and most of them after she emigrated.

The persecution of the band Stoptime in the fall of 2025 was the first and most high-profile case of repression in Russia for street performances by musicians deemed "foreign agents." Naoko and the band's guitarist, Sasha Orlov, spent over a month in pretrial detention, and immediately after their third release, they fled the country.

The concept of the release chronologically captures this period: from the free sidewalks of St. Petersburg through prison bars to the complete uncertainty of foreign cities.

“We describe it as a musical diary-research about the value of a home that is not actually tied to a specific place,” explained Naoko in conversation with "Paper".

The album weaves together a naive hope for a brighter future, a transformation of the idea of protest, and a pointed anger at the system. But even so, "To Nowhere From Nowhere" leaves a bright feeling after listening, reminding us that any efforts to fight for peace are not in vain, and that there are still people in Russia who care about it.

We woke up among the gray hairs of wrinkles,

Where old faces are considered new,

Women pray for the sake of men,

And the men have already stopped praying.

People bite into each other - why do they even need to?

Your own blood, if you drink someone else's?

The one who wanted change in the basements,

Now he won’t tell about it in person.”
