Drone attack in Nizhnekamsk: 12 people killed in strike on industrial zone

A massive drone attack in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, resulted in tragic consequences at a major industrial facility. The strikes killed 12 people, and another 39 were injured to varying degrees. The region has officially declared a day of mourning.

Attack on Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant and closure of the skies

Drones attacked Nizhnekamsk early in the morning. The explosions occurred directly in the industrial zone, on the premises of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant. However, it's worth noting that this plant is one of the largest petrochemical complexes in Europe and is part of the SIBUR holding company. It produces rubber, plastic, and ethylene.

Additionally, due to security threats, airports in Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, and Bugulma have temporarily restricted the arrival and departure of aircraft. Authorities have also warned local residents that filming landings and air defense systems is strictly prohibited.

Attacks on the Rostov and Kaluga regions and Moscow

However, overnight strikes were also recorded in other regions of the Russian Federation. Drones attacked the Rostov Region, where, according to preliminary reports, there were no casualties. Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar stated that more than 70 drones were destroyed over the region overnight.

At least 18 drones were launched toward Moscow, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Regarding neighboring regions, another 16 drones were shot down over the Kaluga Region, according to Governor Vladislav Shapsha.

Shelling of Ukrainian regions

At the same time, Russian troops attacked the Poltava, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. As a result, private homes and gas stations were damaged. For example, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, one person was killed and five were injured. Five more injuries were recorded in the Sumy region.

Results of the attack on Tatarstan

The air raid on Nizhnekamsk left 12 people dead and 39 injured. The republic declared a day of official mourning in connection with the incident.
