In the Tyumen region, a massive cull of pigs on private farms has begun due to an outbreak of a dangerous disease. However, officials and veterinary services are categorically refusing to officially state the reason for the slaughter.
Sanitary posts and fines for refusing to hand over livestock
In particular, special sanitary cordons have already been established in the Golyshmanovsky District. The workers' settlement of Golyshmanovo, the villages of Abatskoye and Omutinskoye, and other nearby settlements have been placed under strict control.
People in white coats and masks are cleaning cars to remove the "swine flu." Comments indicate this is a sanitization procedure, and many have already had their pigs slaughtered and received compensation of 90-95 rubles per kilogram. Refusing to hand over the piglets will result in a fine of 30-35 rubles.
Journalists from 72.ru suggested that African swine fever (ASF) was the reason for the quarantine. This dangerous virus had previously infected wild boar and domestic animals in the area. The disease is easily transmitted through the air, feed, manure, and clothing, and is extremely stable in the environment. However, it poses no danger to humans.
Officials classified the information
Despite the panic among the population, neither regional authorities nor the administrations of the Golyshmanovsky District settlements are disclosing the diagnosis. The Tyumen Region Veterinary Department told journalists that this information is "restricted for dissemination."
The first cases of the disease were detected in the village of Skarednaya in early August. Veterinarians immediately declared that there was no vaccine or effective treatment for the unspecified disease, so the entire herd was subject to complete culling.
Villagers are left without money before the school season.
As a result of the authorities' actions, villagers are left on the brink of survival, as there is virtually no work in rural areas, and private farmsteads remain the only source of income. Many residents planned to slaughter livestock before the start of the school year to clothe and prepare their children for school.
Raising a single piglet requires a lot of effort and money. Because animals need good nutrition and vitamins. Medications are incredibly expensive these days.
