Residents of another Karelian village risk running out of firewood for the winter: the cost has exceeded 60 rubles.
People village of Lendery complained to a Yabloko deputy Emilia SlabunovaThey've stopped issuing firewood at a discounted price; buying it at full price is too expensive. The deputy has submitted inquiries to the relevant agencies.
"We live in the forest, and Segezha Group gets our firewood, and it's so expensive. I managed to get some last year, but then we couldn't get any more. Summer's almost over, so how do we prepare for winter?"- asked MP residents.
The letter's author noted that even "discounted" firewood has become unavailable due to its high cost. The price per cubic meter has reached 4300 rubles, for the winter you need about 15 cubic meters of firewood, for which you will have to pay 64 500 rubles.
Residents of Karelia can prepare wood for free, but the elderly simply can't afford it.
Slabunova wrote inquiries to the Karelian Prosecutor's Office, the republic's Ministry of Natural Resources and the Administration Muyezersky District with a request to verify the reasonableness of firewood prices for the local population and the legality of the cessation by the logging company JSC Segezha Group of the supply of firewood to citizens for personal use within the boundaries of leased forest plots.
This isn't the first Karelian village whose residents risk freezing in winter. A month earlier, residents of the following villages complained to the deputy about the same problem: Proletarka and Kyappeselga Kondopozhsky district.
