Record drone attack: 1478 drones shot down over Russian regions, killing at least eight people

Ukrainian forces have set a new record for the number of drone strikes launched against Russian regions. At least eight people have been killed and dozens more injured as a result of massive strikes over the past 24 hours.

Geography of the strikes and the first victims

Over the course of the day, air defense systems shot down 1478 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. The previous high was set the day before, when 1328 UAVs were destroyed over the country's territory. Furthermore, the latest attack marked the first use of British long-range UAVs.

The Rostov, Kursk, Belgorod, Bryansk, and Moscow regions, as well as several other Russian regions, were hit hard. The highest number of casualties was recorded in the Rostov region, where five people died. In addition, one person each died in Ramenskoye near Moscow, Rzhevka in Belgorod, and the village of Budki in the Kursk region.

Fires at warehouse complexes

However, the attacks' consequences were not limited to human casualties. In particular, large warehouses in the Moscow region continue to burn, damaged by the drone crashes and their debris.

Due to the large-scale fires, specialized equipment had to be brought in for emergency response. Emergency services deployed firefighting helicopters to extinguish the blazes at the facilities.
