There will be no hockey: after the nationalization of a company in Khabarovsk Krai, a children's section is closing.
In the village of Vanino in Khabarovsk Krai, a children's hockey club attended by hundreds of local children has suspended operations. The reason was the nationalization of the Transbunker company, which financed it and was seized by the authorities due to "foreign influence."
Why did the sports school close?
For many years, the hockey section was entirely supported by the Transbunker company. However, in early July, the company was nationalized. As a result of this decision, there was simply no funding left for the sports section.
Moreover, it was thanks to this company that Vanino received the only modern ice rink in the entire region. Students from the local section regularly won first place in national competitions, but now their athletic careers are in jeopardy.
Help, we are left without funding, 300 children will end up on the streets if we can’t solve the problem
These are the very same appeals that parents of young athletes are now making against the closure of the section.
What is Transbunker and similar contexts known for in the regions?
Transbunker specialized in supplying marine fuel in the Far East, as well as other major ports in Russia and the UAE. After the business came under state control, the company's social projects were no longer needed by the new owners.
However, this is not the first time such a situation has occurred in Russian regions. For example, a similar incident occurred in Tomsk after the nationalization of the KDV holding company, leaving the football club of the same name without funding. According to city authorities, they will not be able to support the team from the budget. Nevertheless, the Tomsk team has managed to continue playing thanks to the support of the "Yarche Plus" store chain (context added based on events in the Tomsk region).
