"They take commuter trains and get paid twice as much." The Vladimir region has decided to raise salaries for security forces after the Crocus attack.

At a meeting of the anti-terrorism commission, the governor Alexander Avdeev saidThat employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian National Guard will receive additional pay to address the problem of personnel shortages among security forces in the region. 

On March 1, the head of the Vladimir Region Department of Internal Affairs Valery Medvedev reported, that the average regional police shortage is 17%, and in some district departments it reaches 36%, and he justified this by citing uncompetitive salaries.

"While the average regional salary is 53 rubles, a patrol police officer earns just over 27 rubles in their first year. Salaries in the Moscow region and in Moscow are much higher than here, so people take the commuter train, travel forty minutes, and earn twice as much."

However, there are also complaints about the police shortage in regions far from Moscow: Sverdlovsk the deficit in the region is 19,4%, in Nizhny Novgorod — 20%, in Orenburg - 27%.
