Government agencies spent 14 billion rubles on VPNs, a nearly 700% increase.
Experts attribute this increase to the exponential increase in cyberattacks, attempts to destroy important data, and the increased need to encrypt traffic. Organizations are setting up VPNs to connect computers, phones, and ATMs located in different locations. There are no public procurements for VPN services specifically designed for accessing blocked websites and services in Russia. Such procurements may be conducted through closed procedures, experts say.
In the first nine months of 2024, government agencies' costs for VPN connections increased by 683 % compared to last year and amounted to 14,1 bn. Rub. Most of it is almost 10 bn. Rub. — fell on the Moscow Department of Information Technology. This пишет "Kommersant".
