City Mayor Alexander Skryabin officially announced the introduction of emergency measures. Specifically, the disaster caused catastrophic damage to the city's infrastructure and green spaces.
"More than 1000 fallen trees have been recorded. Requests continue to come in. The aftermath of 132 fallen trees has now been cleaned up. The rest are in progress."
Furthermore, the unified dispatch service has already received over 35 calls from local residents, added Alexander Skryabin.
Transport collapse and utility outages
As a reminder, on June 25, a powerful hurricane, accompanied by heavy rains and thunderstorms, swept through the Rostov Region. As a result, serious power and water supply issues were reported in at least 15 cities and districts of the region.
Consequently, the raging storm virtually paralyzed transportation. Water flooded the key federal highway M-4 "Don," and nearly 90 trains were delayed due to damaged power lines and debris on the tracks.
