Wildberries warehouse fire near Penza, marketplace relocation to Kazakhstan, and Monetochka in Spider-Man: overnight news
A Wildberries logistics center near Penza caught fire after a drone attack, prompting the company to seek warehouses in Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, the Central Election Commission registered Yabloko's list, and Monetochka's track was featured on the soundtrack of the new Spider-Man film.
Attack on the Wildberries warehouse near Penza and the company’s reaction
A Wildberries logistics center near Penza caught fire as a result of a drone attack, as officially announced by regional governor Oleg Melnichenko. At the same time, local residents reported loud explosions.
The company promptly commented on the situation and announced a restructuring of its operations:
The evacuation has been completed. Unfortunately, there is a casualty. Logistics chains have been reorganized, and deliveries and orders are being received at other facilities.
Furthermore, Wildberries has already begun searching for new premises in Kazakhstan to secure its logistics hubs from ongoing attacks from Ukraine. According to Kommersant sources, in Russia, owners of large warehouses are refusing to lease their space to the marketplace en masse due to the risk of turning them into drone targets.
However, finding the right space in Kazakhstan won't be easy: there's no single large block in the country; all 130 square meters of available space are spread across various cities, and rental prices are practically on par with Moscow.
Protecting businesses in Kuban, elections, and messaging app blocking
Mobile fire teams will be created in the Krasnodar Krai to protect enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities from drone attacks. The task force has decided to recruit employees from the production facilities themselves. They will sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense but will continue to serve exclusively at their facilities without being deployed to combat zones.
Meanwhile, the Central Election Commission unanimously registered the Yabloko party's federal list for the September State Duma elections, which included 269 candidates. Party Chairman Nikolai Rybakov called this decision an opportunity for citizens to legitimately express their position in favor of a ceasefire, peace, and an end to political repression.
Meanwhile, South Korean KakaoTalk and Turkish BiP stopped working properly in Russia without a VPN. Messages, photos, and videos only load when changing IP addresses, and users are experiencing authorization issues. Previously, both services were actively promoted as alternatives to Telegram.
Monetochka's song in worldwide distribution
Finally, the track "Monopoly," composed by Liza Monetochka and her husband, Vitya Isaev, was discovered in the end credits of the film "Spider-Man: New Day." The film opens worldwide on July 31st.
Spider-Man director Destin Daniel Cretton said he personally loves the song and is thrilled with the reaction from Russian-speaking audiences. The exact moment audiences will hear "Monopoly" is still unknown.
